Ms. Urias represented U.S. insurance regulators in the ongoing insurance dialogue with the European Union (EU) to promote business opportunity, consumer protection and effective insurance supervision. In early 2012, the European Commission (EC), the European Insurance & Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), the NAIC and the Federal Insurance Office of the U.S. Department of the Treasury (FIO) agreed to participate in dialogue and a related project to contribute to an increased mutual understanding and enhanced cooperation between the EU and the U.S. in insurance regulatory matters. Ms. Urias contributed to the Project Report entitled: “EU-U.S. Dialogue Project Technical Committee Reports Comparing Certain Aspects of the Insurance Supervisory and Regulatory Regimes in the European Union and the United States” that identifies areas of alignment and differences between the two regulatory systems in certain key areas of insurance regulation. A copy of the Report is available on the NAIC website at http://www.naic.org/committees_g.htm.
